Getting Tom Arnold and Ego TV Off My Computer
It’s been a long, long time since I’ve had to deal with anything like a virus, malware or whatever because I keep my stuff pretty secure but as as we all know, nothing is 100% effective and sometimes things slip by - this would be one of those times.
I’ve been using Google’s Chrome browser (which took a little getting used to but I really like it) and I needed to use Firebox as my bank displays all jacked up in Chrome for some reason. So I opened Firefox for the first time in ages and every single webpage I visited would make this annoying browser from Ego TV pop up with Tom Arnold and some weirdo talking about jobs. I was annoyed.
First thing I did was control/alt/delete and look for a process running to kill… nothing there.
So I thought maybe something had manage to download into my registry - nope nothing there either.
and I checked the System 32 folder - nothing new there and yet every time I visited a new website in Firefox - stupid Tom Arnold would start talking again in yet another Ego TV pop up browser.
Then it hit me, it had to be cookies and so I went into Tools>Options>Privacy>Show Cookies and sure enough - there was the Ego TV cookie folder - I deleted that sucker and it hasn’t come back. I don’t even know where I picked this up - I pretty much only go the same places every day and I rarely download anything at all. But I had it and hopefully this will help you get rid of Ego TV who should be really ashamed of themselves for turning Tom Arnold into Spyware and putting him on innocent surfer’s computers…. the nerve….
